bowl of air fryer tofu above I thought I wasn’t a fan of tofu, because any time I had it, it was bland and mushy. Then I made this air fryer tofu that was flavorful and crispy and I immediately changed my tune. If you have any tofu skeptics in your life, send them this recipe, I bet you it’ll convert them after one bite. 😉

Ingredients

Less than 10 ingredients necessary to make perfect, crispy tofu!

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil – helps create a crispy exterior and a lightly “fried” flavor. Avocado oil or another neutral flavored oil like canola oil may also be used if you’re not a fan of EVOO.
  • Chili Garlic Sauce – provides a bit of nutty, spice to the recipe. If you don’t have chili garlic sauce on hand, replace with 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic and 1/2 tablespoon sriracha. Not a fan of spice? Omit the chili garlic sauce or sriracha and just use 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic instead.
  • Soy Sauce – soaks into the tofu to give a salty, rich umami flavor. Use a low sodium soy sauce if you’re watching your intake. Gluten free? Use tamari or coconut aminos instead.
  • Seasoned Rice Vinegar – balances out the soy sauce with a bright, tangy flavor. Seasoned rice vinegar has the addition of salt and sugar, so if you need to substitute with another vinegar (like apple cider vinegar), use half the amount called for so it doesn’t overpower the other flavors.
  • Pure Maple Syrup – adds sweetness to the tofu that provides a nice contrast to the umami flavor from the soy sauce and tang from the vinegar. Maple syrup is a great natural way to add a sweet, molasses flavor to any dish. Feel free to substitute honey or agave.
  • Cornstarch – coats the outside of the tofu which makes the exterior extra crispy!
  • Tofu – extra firm tofu is the best tofu to use in the air fryer. Other varieties of tofu — silken, soft, medium, and firm — are too soft. Extra firm tofu can easily be cubed, tossed, and air fried without losing its shape.
  • Salt – to taste. Salt is necessary to provide additional flavor to the tofu and enhances the other ingredients in the sauce.

Pro tip
Keep it simple. If you don’t have these ingredients on hand simply coat with the extra virgin olive oil, season with salt, then toss in cornstarch.

How to make

This delicious tofu recipe takes just 15 minutes to prep and 15 minutes to cook! Super quick and super easy!

  1. Drain and press tofu, then cut into 32 cubes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together oil, chili garlic sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, and maple syrup until well-combined.
  3. Transfer the sauce to a gallon-sized ziplock baggie, then add in tofu cubes. Seal and gently shake until the tofu is evenly coated. Sprinkle in cornstarch, then seal and shake again.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375ÂșF then add in tofu cubes.
  5. Air fry for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through, then remove the air fryer and sprinkle with salt. Repeat with remaining tofu.

Pro tip
Be sure to leave room between the tofu cubes. This allows the air to circulate around each piece resulting in super crispy tofu!

How do you make crispy tofu in an air fryer?

Here are a few things you can do to get ultra crispy tofu:

  • Preheat the air fryer. Let your air fryer preheat to 375ÂșF before adding in the tofu. This ensures that the outsides start cooking immediately so they get nice and crispy without the inside becoming overcooked.
  • Use extra firm tofu. Other varieties of tofu don’t have enough structure and contain too much moisture to get crispy. Make sure you use extra firm.
  • Press the tofu. Use a tofu press or read this article on how to press tofu to get any excess moisture out of the tofu. The less moisture, the crispier it will be.
  • Toss with cornstarch. Cornstarch helps absorb moisture as the tofu cooks which results in a crispier exterior.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer. I recommend cooking your tofu in batches so you can cook smaller amounts at a time. If the pieces are all on top of each other, the air won’t be able to circulate properly and parts of the tofu may be soggy.
  • Shake halfway through. Gently shake the air fryer basket halfway through the 15 minute cook time to redistribute the tofu. This ensures that the air reaches every side of the tofu so it’s evenly cooked and crispy all the way around.

What happens if you don’t press tofu?

You can still eat tofu if you don’t press it, but the flavor and texture won’t be good. Pressing tofu removes the excess moisture which allows the tofu to absorb flavors from the seasonings and marinade and allows the outside to become crispy. To press tofu: use a tofu press or read this article on how to press tofu to get any excess moisture out of the tofu. The less moisture, the crispier and more flavorful it will be.

Can you bake the tofu?

If you don’t have an air fryer, this tofu recipe is easy to make in the oven as well:

  • Preheat your oven to 400ÂșF.
  • Follow the tofu prepping instructions as listed.
  • Spread the tofu onto a greased baking sheet and bake for 20-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Tofu is so versatile and can be served a number of different ways with several sides:

How to store

Leftover tofu will last in an airtight container in the fridge for 4-5 days or in the freezer for 4-6 months. To reheat, thaw in the fridge, if frozen, then warm in the air fryer to re-crisp. – Jennifer

cheeseburger egg rolls dipping into fry sauce

These cheeseburger egg rolls are seriously SO good. A juicy, cheesy, perfectly seasoned burger filling is stuffed into an egg roll wrapper and fried until hot and crispy. It just doesn’t get better than that, my friends!

Ingredients

All your favorite hamburger flavors stuffed into a chewy, yet crispy egg roll? Yes please!

  • Ground Beef –  the base for our burger filling. Use any variety you’d like (80/20, 90/10, etc.). The grease will get drained and mushrooms help add additional moisture, so don’t worry about having a greasy or dry filling.
  • Mushrooms –  a cheap way to bulk up the filling while also adding moisture and nutrients without adding flavor. I promise, you can’t taste the mushrooms. 😉
  • Worcestershire Sauce, Soy Sauce, and Fish Sauce – the seasoning trifecta for these burgers! The salty, tangy, umami flavor each of these brings in key to having super flavorful meat.
  • Spices: Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, and Onion Powder – our homemade, very simple seasoning blend that adds an incredible amount of flavor to the beef. Plan for 3/4 teaspoon salt for each pound of ground beef used, but only 1/2 teaspoon of the remaining spices.
  • Onion – yellow onion is used in the recipe, but feel free to use white or red onion. Yellow and red onions will yield a sweeter flavor whereas white onion will have more of a “bite” to it. The onion is kept raw to provide a sharper flavor and crunchy texture, but if you don’t love raw onions on your burger, feel free to sautĂ© it with the ground beef.
  • Pickles – a classic cheeseburger topping that provide a briny, sweet flavor and subtle crunch. You can omit if you really don’t like pickles, but you’ll definitely be missing out on that amazing flavor and texture.
  • Yellow Mustard and Ketchup – provide that classic cheeseburger flavor and also additional moisture to the filling.
  • Egg Roll Wrappers – a flour and egg wrapper that, when fried in hot oil, becomes chewy, yet ultra crunchy!
  • String Cheese – the original recipe calls for sharp cheddar cheese, but feel free to use any string cheese flavor you’d like. You could replace the string cheese with your favorite cheese for burgers (crumbled blue cheese, sliced American, etc.), but we love the ease of using a cheese stick!
  • Canola Oil – the best oil for frying, because it has a high smoke point, is accessible and cheap, and has a very neutral flavor. Deep frying not your thing? I also have instructions for air frying and baking below!
Pro tip
Don’t forget the fry sauce for dipping! It’s a MUST.

How to make

Save time by making your cheeseburger filling in advance!

  1. Cook beef, mushrooms, worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in non-stick skillet until the meat is no longer pink.
  2. Stir in onions, pickles, mustard, and ketchup, then taste and re-season, if necessary.
  3. Lay out one egg roll wrapper with a corner pointed toward you, brush the edges with water, then top with 1/4 cup of filling and two cheese stick halves.
  4. Fold one corner up over the mixture, then fold the left and right corners toward the center and continue to roll until sealed. Repeat with remaining filling and wrappers.
  5. Heat oil to 350 degrees F, then fry egg rolls until golden brown and crispy, about 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from oil, drain on paper towels, then serve with fry sauce for dipping!

Can cheeseburger egg rolls be made in the air fryer?

Yes! They won’t be quite as crispy, but the air fryer does a pretty good job!

  1. Make and fill the egg rolls following the original recipe, then preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F.
  2. Grease basket with cooking spray, place in 4 eggs rolls – be sure they’re not touching, then spray the tops with additional cooking spray.
  3. Air fry for 12 minutes, flipping halfway through, then repeat with remaining egg rolls.

Can these be baked in the oven?

Yes, although they will be even less crispy than the air fryer.

  1. Preheat oven to 425ÂșF and line a baking sheet with a silicone mat.
  2. Place egg rolls on the prepared baking sheet and spray the tops with cooking spray to promote browning.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until crispy, rotating periodically for even browning.

Variations

  • Add bacon. Make it a bacon cheeseburger egg roll by sautĂ©ing slices of bacon before browning the beef.
  • Make it vegan. Replace the ground beef with Beyond Meat (or similar product) and string cheese with vegan cheese. Omit the fish sauce and check to make sure your worcestershire sauce and egg roll wrappers are vegan.

How to store

Leftover egg rolls will last in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or in the freezer for 1-2 months.

To reheat, thaw if frozen then bake to warm and re-crisp!

How to freeze uncooked cheeseburger egg rolls

Follow the recipe as directed, but stop before frying. Instead, place assembled egg rolls on a silicone mat lined baking sheet and place in the freezer until frozen. Transfer frozen egg rolls to a freezer safe ziplock baggie and store in the freezer for 6 months. When ready to cook, follow the recipe as written, adding additional cook time, if necessary.

plate of air fryer pickles

If you love pickles, then you’re going to LOVE these air fryer pickles. They’re juicy, they’re crispy, and they’re sooo flavorful. Whether you’re looking for a healthier way to eat deep fried pickles or not, you’re going to love this air fried version, because it’s also way quicker and easier than deep frying.

Ingredients

We’re dredging (coating in flour and breadcrumbs) our pickles today. Don’t let that scare you, it’s very simple and only requires every day pantry staples.

  • Seasoned Flour: All-Purpose Flour, Salt, Pepper, Paprika, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder – the first step in dredging is coating the food in a seasoned flour mixture. The flour mixture will stick to the pickles, the egg will stick to the flour, and the panko will stick to the egg. All-purpose flour and this simple blend of seasonings creates a perfectly flavored base for our air fried pickles.
  • Egg Wash: Egg and Milk – helps the breadcrumbs stick to the pickles. Use a large egg and any milk you have on hand.
  • Bread Crumbs: Seasoned Panko and Grated Parmesan – creates an ultra crispy and golden brown exterior to the pickles. I like using seasoned panko, because they add additional flavor and are crispier than “regular” breadcrumbs. The grated parmesan also adds additional flavor.
  • Pickles – 1 (24 oz) jar dill pickle spears, drained and dried is called for in the original recipe. Pickle chips can also be used, but I preferred the texture and ease of using pickle spears. Either way, the pickles should be drained and dried throughly for best results.
  • Ranch – or other sauce of choice, for dipping! Feel free to use store-bought ranch or try my greek yogurt ranch dressing if you’d like something homemade.
Pro tip
Want to create an air fryer appetizer platter? Try my air fryer frozen french fries, air fryer corn dogs, and air fryer mushrooms.

How to make

Stay organized with your dredging by setting up three plates on a clean work surface. Be sure to also have separate landing zones for your pre-cooked and cooked pickles!

  1. Whisk together flour, salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder on a shallow plate.
  2. Whisk egg and milk together another shallow plate.
  3. Whisk together panko and parmesan on a third shallow plate.
  4. Dredge the pickles in flour/seasoning mixture, then egg mixture, then panko mixture.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F, air fry 4 pickles at a time for 10 minutes, then serve with ranch for dipping!
Pro tip
Have one hand be your “dry hand” (flour and breadcrumbs) and another be your “wet hand” (egg) when dredging. This helps prevent a big mess!

What pickles to use

Any pickle you enjoy the flavor of will work in this recipe. 1 (24 oz) jar dill pickle spears, drained and dried is called for in the original recipe. Pickle chips can also be used, but I preferred the texture and ease of using pickle spears (spears are less time consuming to bread, because there’s way less in a jar). Either way, the pickles should be drained and dried throughly for best results.

Pro tip
I used Claussen Pickles Kosher Dill Spears, because they’re easy to find and have great customer reviews!

How do you make fried pickles crispy and not soggy?

  • Dry the pickles. Drying the pickles before dredging helps prevent the breading from becoming overly soggy.
  • Dredge the pickles. This three part breading process creates an ultra crispy breading that actually sticks to the pickles.
  • Use panko. Panko is crispier than regular breadcrumbs, so will naturally create a crispy exterior.
  • Don’t crowd. Be sure there’s room around each of the pickles; this allows the air to circulate which means all sides of the pickle will get crispy.

Can you bake air fryer pickles?

You can, but they won’t be as crispy.

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F and line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat.
  2. Follow the dredging instructions as listed in the original recipe.
  3. Place pickles onto the prepared baking sheet then bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until crispy.

What to serve with air fryer pickles

These pickles scream for a great dipping sauce.

air fried pickle dipping into ranch

How to store

Leftover air fried pickles will last in airtight container in the fridge for 3 days. Re-heat in the air fryer at 400 degrees F for 2-3 minutes or until hot and crispy.

To freeze: follow the recipe as directed, but stop before air frying. Instead, place breaded pickles on a silicone mat lined baking sheet and place in the freezer until frozen. Transfer frozen pickles to a freezer safe ziplock baggie and store in the freezer for 6 months. When ready to cook, follow the recipe as written, adding additional cook time, if necessary.

This Air Fryer Pork Tenderloin is juicy, flavorful, and so easy to make. Pork is coated in a sweet and smoky rub, then air fried until it’s crispy on the outside and tender in the center.

air fryer pork tenderloin sliced on a plate

Pork tenderloin is one of those things that I always forget about, but the second I take a bite, I wonder why I don’t eat it more. This air fryer pork is no exception. It’s ultra juicy, flavorful, and has a slight crunch on the outside. Don’t forget the honey mustard for dipping!

Ingredients

Pork is rubbed in sweet and smoky rub, then air fried to juicy perfection!

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil – helps the seasonings stick to the outside of the pork and adds additional healthy fats. If another oil is preferred, be sure it has a smoke point of 400 degrees F.
  • Brown Sugar – adds a rich, sweet, molasses flavor and creates a sticky and caramelized outer crust on the pork. Dark brown sugar is called for in the original recipe, but light may be substituted.
  • Spices: Ranch Seasoning Mix, Chili Powder, Paprika, Salt, and Cayenne Pepper – our semi-homemade seasoning blend that provides a sweet, smoky, and mildly spicy flavor. If you’re sensitive to heat, omit the cayenne pepper or replace it with equal parts black pepper instead.
  • Pork Tenderloin – you’ll need 2 (1 pound) pork tenderloins with excess fat trimmed. To ensure even cooking, you’ll need to cook them separately. You can try cooking 1 (2 pound) tenderloin instead, but you’ll need additional cook time. My air fryer is too small to handle a 2 pound tenderloin.
Pro tip
While it’s not absolutely necessary, I highly recommend serving the pork with this honey mustard dipping sauce!

How to make

Season, air fry, rest, and serve! It doesn’t get easier than this.

  1. Mix oil, brown sugar, chili powder, ranch seasoning, paprika, salt, and cayenne together in a small bowl, then rub it onto the pork tenderloins.
  2. Cook 1 tenderloin in a preheated 400 degrees F air fryer until the internal temperature of the pork is 145 degrees F.
  3. Remove pork and set aside to rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  4. Repeat with the other tenderloin, then serve with honey mustard sauce for dipping.
Pro tip
Flip the pork halfway through to ensure even cooking.

How long does pork take in the air fryer?

1 (1 pound) pork tenderloin will cook in 10-20 minutes* in a preheated 400 degree F air fryer. Add more to less time to reach a desired temperature. It look about 15 minutes to reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees F which is considered medium rare. Add additional time to reach these temperatures:

  • Medium Rare: 145-150 degrees F
  • Medium: 150-155 degrees F
  • Medium Well: 155-160 degrees F
  • Well: 160 degrees F

What to serve with air fryer pork tenderloin

This juicy pork recipe is perfect next to a carb-y side, a few veggies, and a light salad!

*Cook time will depend on how large your pork tenderloin is and how “done” you want it. 145 degrees F is considered medium-rare, safe to eat, and will result in the juiciest texture. Mine both took about 15 minutes.

4 air fryer biscuits stacked

Canned refrigerated biscuits are fine, but if you’re looking to take them to the next level, I highly suggest dunking them in melted butter, sprinkling them with a few spices, and throwing them in the air fryer. I promise you, once you try these air fryer biscuits, you’ll never go back to baking!

Can i put biscuits in the air fryer?

Yes. Homemade, bisquick, refrigerated, and frozen biscuits can be made in the air fryer.

  • To air fry homemade biscuits: cook biscuits in a single layer at 400 degrees F for 8-10 minutes. You’ll need to add parchment paper to the basket. (I recommend using a recipe that’s specifically been tested for this.)
  • To air fry bisquick biscuits: cook biscuits in a single layer at 330 degrees F for 5-10 minutes. You’ll need to add parchment paper to the basket. (I recommend using a recipe that’s specifically been tested for this.)
  • To air fry refrigerated biscuits: cook biscuits in a single layer at 325 degrees F for 8 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until cooked through.
  • To air fry frozen biscuits: cook biscuits in a single layer at 325 degrees F for 16 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until cooked through.

Ingredients

Take refrigerated biscuits up a notch with only 5 additional ingredients! Bonus: you probably have these ingredients on hand already.

  • Butter – unsalted butter is microwaved until melted, then whisked together with the spices to make a semi-homemade flavored butter. Using unsalted butter allows you to control how much salt goes into the recipe. If salted butter is the only butter available, simply omit the salt in this recipe.
  • Parmesan – adds a nutty, sharp flavor to the biscuits. Feel free to use a pre-grated variety. I also love using a “parmesan, asiago, romano” cheese blend for extra flavor.
  • Spices: Garlic Powder, Salt, and Pepper – a simple, but very effective seasoning blend to take refrigerated biscuits up a notch! Feeling adventurous? Try other seasonings: chili powder, dry ranch mix, italian seasoning, etc.
  • Biscuits – any refrigerated biscuit brand should work just fine. You’ll need 1 (16.3 oz) can, which will contain 8 biscuits.
Pro tip
These biscuits are great plain, but are also amazing with butter, jam, or gravy!

How to make

These air fryer biscuits are crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle!

  1. Whisk together melted butter, parmesan, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Dunk 1 biscuit into the butter mixture until fully coated, then repeat with 3 more biscuits.
  3. Place the 4 coated biscuits into a preheated air fryer. Be sure the biscuits aren’t touching so they have room to expand.
  4. Air fry at 325 degrees F for 8 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Repeat with remaining biscuits and enjoy!
Pro tip
Be sure to flip the biscuits halfway through the cook time — this ensures even browning all the way around!

How long do you put biscuits in the air fryer?

Cook time depends on if the biscuits are homemade, canned, or frozen. Size of the biscuits will also affect the length.

Tips

  • Don’t crowd. With this air fryer, I can comfortably fit 4 biscuits without them touching. The biscuits need room to expand.
  • Don’t stack. Stacked biscuits won’t cook all the way through. The air fryer needs to be able to circulate air around the entire biscuit.
  • Pre-heat. Pre-heating the air fryer allows it to come to the correct temperature before cooking the biscuits.
  • Don’t dunk the biscuits too early. Wait until the air fryer is ready to go before dunking the first 4 biscuits in the melted butter mixture. Place the remaining 4 biscuits back into the fridge while the first batch bakes.
  • Do a test batch. Different air fryers and different brands of biscuits may cook differently. Start with the recipe as written and add more or less time with remaining batches, if necessary.

What to serve with air fryer biscuits

These biscuits are amazing plain, with jam, or smothered in gravy. They’re also a delicious side dish next to any meal.

How to store

These biscuits will last in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days, in the fridge for up to 1 week, or in the freezer for up to 1 month.

To reheat: re-crisp in the air fryer (no thawing necessary) until warm.

These Air Fryer Hamburgers are ultra juicy and SO flavorful. This homemade version of a fast food favorite can’t be beat!

air fryer hamburger on plate

Ingredients

A few secret ingredients (fish sauce, what?!) make these hamburgers the best you’ve ever had!

  • Ground Beef –  the base for our burgers. 80/20 beef (80% beef, 20% fat) is great for perfectly juicy hamburgers. If you’d like a leaner burger, try 90/10 beef, but you’ll need to be extra careful to not overcook it or it will be bone dry. Want an even juicier burger? Go for 70/30! I personally think 80/20 is the best of both worlds; juicy, but not too fatty.
  • BBQ Sauce – provides additional moisture and flavor to the hamburger patties. Feel free to use homemade we like Sweet Baby Ray’s
  • Unsalted Butter – provides additional moisture to the beef and a rich, buttery, caramelized flavor.
Pro tip
Don’t forget the toppings: hamburger buns, sliced cheese, fry sauce, sliced pickles, and raw onions!

How to make

These hamburgers are quick, easy, and super juicy!

  1. Mix together beef, worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a large bowl.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 (1/2 inch thick) patties, make a small indent in the middle of the patty with your thumb, then top each patty with barbecue sauce and butter.
  3. Cook in preheated 375 degree F air fryer until beef is cooked to your liking.
  4. Optional – top each patty with a slice of cheese then cook for an additional 1 minute.
  5. Serve with buns, fry sauce, pickles, onion, etc. and enjoy!
Pro tip
Depending on your air fryer, you may only be able to cook 2 patties at a time. Keep the cooked hamburgers warm in the oven while you make the remaining burgers.

How long to cook

Depending on how you like your hamburger done (medium-rare? well?) you’ll need to cook the burgers for 8-15 minutes in a preheated 375 degree F air fryer. Here are the internal temperatures you’re looking for:

  • Medium-rare: 130-135 degrees F (very juicy, red center)
  • Medium: 140-145 degrees F (juicy, pink center)
  • Medium-well: 150-155 degrees F (pretty dry, only a sliver of pink in the center)
  • Well: 160 degrees F (dry, no pink center)

The FDA recommends an internal temperature of 160 degrees F for ground beef.

Pro tip
Use a meat thermometer to get the most accurate reading!

Do you need to flip hamburgers in the air fryer?

Because we’re topping the burgers with bbq sauce and butter before cooking, do not flip hamburgers. To ensure even cooking, don’t crowd the air fryer. The hamburgers should be placed in a single layer without touching. Even without flipping, both sides of the burger get a nice crisp while maintaining a juicy center.

Can you air fry a frozen hamburger?

Yes. Preheat air fryer to 375 degrees F then cook for 20 minutes or until the beef is cooked to your liking. See How Long to Cook for meat temperatures.

Pro tip
You’ll need to adjust cook time depending on the size and thickness of your burger. Use a meat thermometer for the best results.

Can you cook air fryer hamburgers on the grill?

Yes. Check out this post on How to Grill the Best Burgers or check out my Smash Burgers recipe!

What to serve with air fryer hamburgers

Hamburgers should be topped with your fixings of choice: cheese, lettuce, mayo, ketchup, onions (raw or cooked!), etc. and served next to fries, salads, and more!

close up of air fryer hamburger with cheese

How to store

Leftover burger patties will last 3-4 days in the fridge or up to 3 months in the freezer.

To freeze, place cooked and cooled patties (no cheese!) on a cookie sheet lined with a silicone mat and freeze until firm (1-2 hours.) After they’re frozen, wrap in foil, place in ziplock bags, and store.

To reheat, thaw in the fridge if frozen then reheat in the air fryer.

These Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries are ultra crispy, yet fluffy, and perfectly seasoned. They’re also quick and easy to make, vegan, and gluten free!

plate of air fryer sweet potato fries with 2 dipping sauces

Ingredients

What makes these fries special? The soaking solution! This results in extra crispy fries.

  • Granulated Sugar and Water – soaking the potatoes in sugar water helps remove excess starch and prevents the potatoes from soaking up too much grease. Both of these things result in extra crispy fries!
  • Sweet Potatoes – peeled and sliced into 1/4 – 1/2 inch strips.  Sweet potatoes are great for fries, because they’re starchy with very little moisture. This makes for a fry that is fluffy in the middle and crispy on the outside.
  • Cornstarch – coats the potatoes to soak up any excess moisture which really helps the fries get extra crispy. Bonus: using cornstarch keeps these fries gluten free!
  • Seasoning Blend: Salt, Paprika, Pepper, Onion Powder, and Garlic Powder – a simple seasoning blend that packs a flavor punch! Salt enhances the flavor of the sweet potatoes and other spices, paprika provides sweetness, pepper adds a hint of spice, onion powder provides a bit of sharp sweetness, and garlic powder adds a subtle nuttiness. Feel free to play around with the seasonings!
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil – these fries are air-fried but a bit of oil allows them to get extra crispy and prevents them from sticking to the air fryer! Avocado oil or another neutral flavored oil like canola oil may also be used if you’re not a fan of EVOO. We’re air frying at 375 degrees F so whatever oil you use be sure it has a smoke point of at least that.
  • Dipping Sauce of Choice – be sure to check out all our dipping sauces!
Pro tip
Check out this post for How to Prep Potatoes for Fries.

plate of air fryer sweet potato fries

How to make

After a quick soak, the potatoes are dried, seasoned, then air fried to crispy perfection!

  1. Dissolve sugar in warm water in a bowl then soak sliced potatoes for 30 minutes.
  2. Whisk together cornstarch, salt, paprika, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Set aside.
  3. Remove potatoes from water, dry thoroughly on paper towels, place into a gallon sized baggie, drizzle with oil, then seal and shake.
  4. Sprinkle in spice mixture and again, seal, then shake until the potatoes are fully coated.
  5. Air fry in a preheated 375 degrees F air fryer for 10-15 minutes or until cooked to your liking, then serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
Pro tip
Place cooked fries onto a baking sheet, then into a warm oven (about 200 degrees) while the other batches of fries are cooking.

How to bake

No air fryer? No problem! Simply bake instead.

  1. Preheat oven to 375ÂșF and line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat.
  2. Prepare the fries as directed, but instead of air-frying, spread the fries in a single layer onto prepared baking sheet, then bake for 20 minutes.
  3. Leaving the fries in the oven, turn the oven up to 425ÂșF and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the fries are golden-brown and crisped to your liking.

Do you need to soak sweet potatoes?

You don’t have to, but you should. Soaking sweet potatoes in a solution made up of water and granulated sugar results in fries that are much crispier on the outside. The water removes starch from the outsides of the potatoes which makes them more rigid and less likely to stick together. The sugar prevents the fries from soaking up too much oil.

How long does it take to cook frozen sweet potatoes in an air fryer?

Depending on the size and amount of fries, frozen sweet potato fries will cook in a preheated 400 degree F air fryer for 15-25 minutes. See my post on Air Fryer Frozen French Fries for more information.

Today’s recipe uses fresh sweet potatoes. Potatoes that have been peeled and sliced into 1/4 – 1/2 inch strips will cook in a preheated 375 degree F air fryer for 10-15 minutes. Cook time will vary depending on how thinly you slice your potatoes.

Why are my sweet potato fries soggy?

If made as directed, your sweet potato fries should be fluffy in the middle with crispy exteriors. If your fries are soggy, here’s why may have happened.

  • The potatoes weren’t soaked. If you’re looking for crispy potatoes, don’t forget to soak them in the sugar water solution for 30 minutes.
  • The potatoes weren’t dry. After the potatoes are soaked they must be thoroughly dried to remove the excess moisture.
  • The cornstarch was forgotten. Cornstarch is key to crispy fries, because it soaks up extra moisture.
  • Too much oil was used. Check your measurements! Too much oil will create greasy fries.
  • The air fryer was too crowded. You want the heat to be able to reach every part of the fry, so they should be spread out in an even layer in the air fryer. If you stack the fries, they won’t cook evenly, and won’t be as crispy.
Pro tip
You won’t be able to fit all of the potato slices into your air fryer so work in batches instead!

What to serve with air fryer sweet potato fries

Sweet potato fries should be served with a dipping sauce of choice, a salad or additional veggie side, and your favorite main dish!

How to store

Fries are best served right away, but will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days or in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Reheat in the air fryer or oven to warm and re-crisp.

Air Fryer Donuts four ways: cinnamon sugar, Krispy Kreme glazed, chocolate frosted, and powdered sugar! These homemade treats are buttery, flaky, and made with refrigerated biscuit dough.

air fryer donuts stacked

Everybody loves homemade donuts, but making donuts from scratch can be SO time consuming and difficult. My solution? Biscuit dough! Trust me. You’re going to love these air fryer donuts. They’re flaky, buttery, sweet, and YOU get to pick your toppings: cinnamon sugar, glazed, chocolate frosted, or powdered sugar!

Ingredients

The “base” of air fryer donuts is only three ingredients!

  • Canned Biscuits – the “donut dough” in these air fryer donuts. Using biscuit dough is a great way to make a “cheater” quick and easy semi-homemade donut. The dough becomes incredibly light and fluffy in the middle with a slightly crisp exterior. The flavor can’t be beat: buttery with the perfect blend of sweet and a touch of salt.
  • Melted Butter and Vanilla Extract – coats the dough to give it a sweet, buttery flavor. It also acts as a binder for the cinnamon sugar and powdered sugar flavors. Without it, the toppings wouldn’t stick.
  • Toppings – we’re making 4 flavors, but the options are endless! Today we have instructions on how to make cinnamon sugar, Krispy Kreme glazed, chocolate frosted, and powdered sugar donuts.
Pro tip
The toppings are literally endless: try a maple glazed, vanilla frosted, etc.

How to make

These donuts couldn’t be easier: air fry the pre-made biscuit dough then dunk (or frost) in your toppings of choice!

  1. Use a 1.5 inch round cookie cutter to cut a hole in the center of each biscuit, then separate the holes from the biscuits. Set aside on a clean work surface.
  2. In a medium sized bowl, mix together melted butter and vanilla then set aside.
  3. Place 4 donut rings in the greased air fryer basket with the air fryer preheated to 350Âș and air fry for 5 minutes.
  4. Immediately remove the donuts from the air fryer and submerge in the melted butter/vanilla mixture, then finish off with the toppings of your choice. Repeat with remaining donut rings/holes.
Pro tip
These are best eaten immediately. Keep the donuts warm in a heated oven while the remaining donuts are air frying.

chocolate frosted air fryer donut hole held

Variations

Although the topping ideas for donuts are pretty much endless, I stuck to these 4 SUPER YUMMY variations:

  • Cinnamon Sugar – mix together 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon for a crunchy, sweet, slightly spicy finish.
  • Krispy Kreme Glazed – whip up a makeshift Krispy Kreme glaze with 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract, 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup milk, and 1/4 cup light corn syrup.
  • Chocolate Frosted – make a creamy homemade chocolate frosting with 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, 4 tablespoons melted butter, 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, 3 tablespoons milk, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Finish it off with sprinkles for a sweet and colorful garnish!
  • Powdered Sugar – dunk the finished donuts with powdered sugar for a classic, crowd favorite variation.
Pro tip
You could also try a maple glaze by mixing together powdered sugar and maple syrup until a glaze-like texture is reached (throw in some maple extract if you have it on hand for a richer flavor). Top it off with some cooked and crumbled bacon for a smoky flavor twist!

Can you make donuts in the oven?

Yes! If you don’t have an air fryer, no problem.

To make donuts in the oven: place the prepped biscuit dough on baking sheets lined with silicone baking mats and bake at 375ÂșF for 10-15 minutes or until the middles are cooked and the outsides are golden brown and slightly crispy, then proceed with the recipe as listed.

cinnamon sugar air fryer donut hole held

How to store

These air fryer donuts are definitely best served right away but will keep in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days.

Can you reheat donuts in the air fryer?

To reheat leftover donuts: air fry or bake at 350ÂșF for 2-5 minutes or until warm. I don’t recommend reheating in the microwave, because they’ll be soggy and chewy.

Everybody loves a good baked potato, amiright? But how do you actually make a good baked potato? They can often be so boring and bland. Today’s air fryer baked potato recipe is anything but! The air fryer makes the outside crispy while keeping the inside fluffy and the simple seasoning blend makes the potato skin super flavorful!

Goodbye boring potatoes! Helloooo flavor town.

Ingredients

This 5 ingredient recipe creates a potato that’s crispy, yet fluffy and perfectly seasoned.

Russet Potatoes – look for potatoes that are about 6 oz in weight for the perfect side dish size. The number you’re able to air fry at a time depends on the size of the air fryer. Space is needed between each of the potatoes to allow the air to circulate; this helps create a crispy exterior. Russet potatoes are the best for “baked” potatoes, because of their thick skin and fluffy interior. If you’re using potatoes that are larger or smaller than what’s listed in the recipe, cook time will vary.

Olive Oil – promotes a crisp, but not too crisp exterior while also giving the spices something to stick to. Olive oil has a higher smoke point, so it’s great to use in this particular air fryer recipe. It also has a stronger flavor than some oils, so be sure to use an olive oil that you enjoy the taste of.

Seasoning: Salt, Pepper, and Garlic Powder – this simple seasoning blend keeps the potato flavor very versatile, so it can be served with a number of toppings next to any main dish you’d like. Feeling adventurous? Add more seasonings! Try some Italian seasonings to serve next to meatballs or sprinkle with taco seasoning and stuff the air fried potato with taco meat.

Pro tip
Don’t want to use russet potatoes? Try these air fryer breakfast potatoes instead; they’re great for dinner, too!

How to make

Use the air fryer to quick, easy, and perfectly cooked “baked” potatoes!

  1. Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F.
  2. Rub potatoes generously with olive oil, then sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Air fry for 45 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked to your liking.
  4. Serve with toppings of choice and enjoy!
Pro tip
Before you air fry the potatoes, be sure to wash and dry them throughly!

How do you know when a baked potato is done?

A potato is cooked properly if the center is easily pierced with a knife. The inside should be tender and fluffy and the outside should be slightly crispy. Be sure to test the potato before removing it from the air fryer.

Today’s recipe calls for 6 oz potatoes and it takes about 45 minutes in a preheated 400 degree F air fryer. Cook time will vary if using potatoes that are larger or smaller than that.

What potatoes to use

Russet potatoes or sweet potatoes are the best potatoes to use for any baked or air fried potato. They have thick skins and starchy interiors which means that the outside is sturdy enough to hold its shape while the center becomes fork tender.

Do you wrap air fryer baked potato in foil?

It depends. Before adding tin foil to the air fryer, be sure to check the manual for specific directions for your make and model. If it’s ok to use foil in your air fryer, you can wrap the potatoes in it before air frying.

Wrapping potatoes in foil before baking or air frying holds the moisture in and steams the potatoes while keeping the skin soft. If you don’t, you get a nice, slightly crispy peel.

Tips

  1. Prep the potatoes. Be sure to thoroughly wash and dry the potatoes to remove any dirt before air frying. Drying the potatoes also helps create a crispy skin.
  2. Use a high smoke point oil to avoid burning. Oils like olive oil have a higher smoke point and provide a nice, rich flavor. A more neutral flavored oil like avocado or canola oil may be used instead.
  3. Season. Season. Season. The skin gets deliciously crispy in this recipe, so be sure it has flavor! Use salt, pepper, and garlic powder or play around with your favorite combination of seasonings.
  4. Don’t overcrowd. Overcrowding the air fryer will cause your food to cook unevenly. You likely won’t get a crispy skin, because there’s not enough room to allow the air to circulate around the potatoes correctly.

Baked potato toppings

The world is your oyster when it comes to baked potato toppings, so have fun!

What to serve with air fryer baked potatoes

These baked potatoes are incredibly versatile, so serve them up next to any main dish with additional sides.

How to store

Baked potatoes are best served immediately, but leftovers will last in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or in the freezer for 1 month.

To reheat, thaw in the fridge if frozen then bake or air fry to warm and re-crisp.

What is falafel?

Falafel is a Middle-Eastern “fast food” made up of chickpeas, oil, herbs, and spices.

The ingredients are blended together then formed into balls or patties and fried until crispy on the outside.

Falafel can be served in a bowl, as a sandwich, on a salad, or as an appetizer with tahini or tzatziki sauce for dipping!

Ingredients

  • Chickpeas – the main falafel ingredient. Use canned and drained chickpeas for easy prep. You can cook dried chickpeas if preferred.
  • Red Onion – add a bright sweetness.
  • Minced Garlic – provides a subtle nutty kick of flavor.
  • Cilantro, Parsley, and Green Onions – adds bright freshness.
  • Egg – binds the ingredients together so the falafel can hold their shape.
  • Ground Cumin, Salt, and Black Pepper – a simple seasoning blend that adds warm, earthy flavors and a kick of spice.
  • Baking Powder – makes the falafel fluffy and light on the inside.
  • Olive Oil and Red Wine Vinegar – gives the falafel moisture and nutty, tangy flavors.
  • Panko – breadcrumbs soak up the moisture from the olive oil and vinegar and become another binding agent.
  • Tzatziki – for serving!

How to make

This air fryer falafel is ready in just 20 minutes for a quick, easy, and healthy snack, lunch, or light dinner.

  1. Place chickpeas, red onion, garlic, cilantro, parsley, green onions, egg, cumin, salt, pepper, baking powder, olive oil, and vinegar into a food processor and process until a coarse texture.falafel ingredients in food processor
  2. Pulse the panko in until just combined.breadcrumbs added to falafel mixture
  3. Use a large cookie scoop to portion the mixture out onto a clean work surface then roll into balls.falafel ball held
  4. Place 7-8 falafel into a greased air fryer basket with the air fryer preheated to 350ÂșF and cook for 10-15 minutes, turning halfway through.uncooked falafel in air fryer
  5. Repeat with remaining falafel then serve and enjoy!air fried falafel in air fryer basket

How to make air fryer falafel crispy

There are a couple of ways you can make sure your air fryer falafel is nice and crispy on the outside:

  • Preheat the air fryer. Make sure you let the air fryer preheat to 350ÂșF before you add in the falafel so they cook just right.
  • Spray with cooking spray. Coating the outsides of the falafel with cooking spray helps them crisp up nicely as they cook.

Can you bake air fryer falafel?

You sure can! To bake your falafel, place the falafel balls on a baking sheet lined with a silicone mat and cook in the oven at 375ÂșF for 30 minutes.

Is falafel vegan?

No. This air fryer falafel recipe isn’t vegan since egg is used to bind the ingredients together.

For a vegan falafel recipe, check out my oven-baked falafel instead which uses flax egg as a binder! You could try this recipe using flax egg but I haven’t tested it so I can’t guarantee the results.

Pro tip
To make a flax egg, mix together 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed and 3 tablespoons water. Place in the fridge and let gel together for 15 minutes before using.

What to serve with air fryer falafel

Air fryer falafel is delicious on its own as a snack or you can bulk your meal up with some of these delicious recipes!

How to store

Leftover falafel will last in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or in the freezer for up to 6 months.

To reheat, bake at 350ÂșF for 15-20 minutes or place back in the air fryer to warm and re-crisp.
